Getting rid of pimples is not an easy task. Believe me I know because I suffered with mild acne during my teenage years. To get rid of pimples my dermatologists prescribed antibiotics such as tetracycline. I found this to be effective for a year before the pimples came back worse. While drugs can offer some relief it is not a cure for acne. If fact the tetracycline basically destroyed a lot of good bacteria in my intestine which caused problems in my adult life. Although pimples are irritating to deal with I would always suggest going with a natural way to minimize the problem before resorting to drugs.
There are steps you can take to minimize pimple breakouts naturally:
1. Wash your face twice a day with a mild soap formulated to get rid of pimples. Try not to use a face towel. I felt this scraped and irritated my face. Make sure you do not wash your face more than twice a day because it will strip the natural oil off your face. As a result you will get excessive dry skin which in turn causes more oil to produce on the face. This will lead to new pimple breakouts.
2. Watch your diet. There is no evidence that links what we eat to the cause of pimples. However from my experience certain foods and drinks tended to exasperate acne. These foods include cola and sugary drinks, diary products, spicy foods, and fried foods.
3. Drink lots of water. Water helps flush out toxins in your body. Toxins and waste that are not removed by the kidneys or bowels will usually exit through the skin. I found when I drank water my complexion improved.
4. Take a multivitamin. This will ensure your skin has enough nutrients to maintain a healthly glow. The most important vitamins used to get rid of pimples are vitamin A, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Zinc, and Vitamin E. They have many benefits such as promoting the healing of the skin, reduces scarring, helps aid the body during times of stress, and reduces oil production around the face.
5. Try not to touch your face with your hands. Your hands pick up all kinds of germs and bacteria which can be transferred to the face.
6. Avoid stress as it tends to create acne flare ups. When you are feeling stressed, get up and go for a walk.
7. Wash your pillow frequently. Since your face is lying on your pillow every night, the oils from your face get transferred on to the pillow casing.
